The middle school will be going to the Root Cellar to help with the food pantry next Friday. Our trip there last month was a new experience for us, and the students really enjoyed it. The Root Cellar serves a very diverse group of people who are from all over the world, and the children interacted with them individually as they helped to distribute the various food items to them. Please pray for us as we serve these folk, that they will see Jesus in us!
Finally . . . . SNOW!!!!!
Can you believe it? The first “winter” storm of the season 12 days into January! Hopefully everyone enjoyed a quiet day and didn’t have to be on the roads too much. Now we are anticipating another extended weekend as we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Here is a video for you to enjoy with your family about Dr. King’s life and contributions . Enjoy!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!
It hardly seems possible that today is the 19th of December and Christmas vacation is just around the corner! When we come together again it will be 2012, a new year in which to learn, fellowship, have fun, laugh together and discover all sorts of new things. Parents, I want to thank you for the gift of your children, and the privilege of teaching them this year. My new year’s resolution, which I intend to keep is to update this blog at least weekly. I may even learn how to load pictures and videos!! May the richest blessings of the season be with you and your families as we celebrate the birth of our Savior!!

Wonderful ACSI Teachers’ Conference!!!
As you know, we were off from school for Thursday and Friday of last week, and for good cause. The teachers from OVCS were privileged and blessed to attend a professional conference in New Hampshire which was put on by the Association of Christian Schools International. We had a new format this year in that the main event was in Elgin, Illinois and was simulcasted live to 34 different sites around the country by satellite, it was like we were all there together! The list of speakers was impressive, and we learned so much about being better teachers and about the importance of Christian education. And now, the best is yet to come!!

Helping Hands ministry trip and apple picking!
This week we are combining our academic efforts with a minisry trip to the food pantry at the Congregational Church in Limington. The kids do a wonderful job of service and we always receive many complements about the work they do. Then, Friday morning we’re taking a schoolwide trip to pick apples! The afternoon will be free so that those who would like to may head to the Fryeburg Fair. Have fun everyone!

A great school year so far!
We’ve finished nearly five weeks of school, and the middle school students and teachers are getting comfortable with our schedule; changing classes, remembering what course is next and keeping up with our homework. We’ve finished our first history unit on the Vikings, started our next about Christopher Columbus, taken a couple of math tests and spent time learning about insects, arthropods and the scientific method. Looking forward to what comes next!

Hello world!
Welcome to Mrs. Hayes’ Middle school page for Ossipee Valley Christian School! I am so blessed and excited to be joining Mr. Ty Dunbar in teaching grades 5 – 8 this year, and can’t wait to begin our adventure in learning together! I will be teaching Math, Social Studies and Science to grades 5/6 and 7/8.
School begins in a couple of short weeks, so make sure you wring the last ounce of fun and relaxation from the summer and prepare to shift gears to start the school year relaxed, rested and eager to learn. Who knows what wonders God has in store for us? See you all soon!
